Q. What kinds of cases do you prosecute?

A. The State's Attorney's Office prosecutes most violations of the Criminal Code that occur in Baltimore County and all traffic violations also occurring in Baltimore County where the penalty is incarceration.

Q. How do I charge someone with committing a crime against me?

A. You should call the police and make a report.  If it is not a case where the police make the arrest, it is your responsibility to go to a District Court Commissioner and file charges against the person you say committed a crime against you.

Q. Do I, as a witness, need to have my own private attorney for a criminal case?

A. No. The State's Attorney's Office acts as your attorney.

A. The State's Attorney's Office is located at 401 Bosley Avenue, County Courts Building, Room 511, Towson, Maryland. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
